The Division

NCSR “Demokritos” is a multi-disciplinary Research Centre, with research activities in the field of physical sciences and significant laboratory infrastructure. NCSR was established in 1958 and operates as an administratively independent self-governing organisation under the supervision of the Ministry of Development. Main mission of NCSR is the creation and diffusion of novel knowledge as well as the provision of specialised services to the public. NCSR consists of eight institutes covering a broad range of activities (Biology, Informatics and Telecommunications, Materials Science, Microelectronics, Nuclear Physics, Nuclear Technology and radiation protection, Physical Chemistry Radioisotopes, Radio-diagnostic products) and the Division of Applied Technologies.

Openscout Project

OpenScout stands for "Skill based scouting of open user-generated and community-improved content for management education and training". OpenScout is a project co-funded by the European Commission within the eContentplus Programme as a Targeted Project in the area of Educational Content (Grant ECP 2008 EDU 428016). OpenScout started in September 2009 and has a duration of three years.

OpenScout aims at providing an education service in the internet that enables users to easily find, access, use and exchange open content for management education and training.

COCAL Project

The COCAL project aims to address the upskilling needs of the banking sector, by developing, applying and validating a holistic approach for the combined management of competencies and learning resources. The project’s principal objective is to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of VET services in the sector, namely by:

increasing the capacity of vocational training organisations to deliver “just-in-time”, quality services,tailored to the needs of the individual learner.
allowing for the better use of available learning resources and exploiting open content repositories

Competencies are pivotal to the COCAL approach for shaping efficient VET services and for decreasing Time2Competence.
